Ask your doc!: If you have questions about medications, tests, procedures, etc ordered or recommended by your doc, it's always best to ask him/her. Quest & labcorp are 2 nationwide lab facilities & list their tests online. www.labtestsonline.org is another option. Perhaps your doc is referring to tryptase alpha/beta-1? http://www.antibodyresource.com/search/elisakits/d11e5f72-9c83-5aca-a953-53295952f1f9/tps1.

Not an easy question: I am wondering what other tests were ordered and why you saw doc? The test measures for presence & degree of "tumor surface antigens" , much like the screening blood "psa" level which screens males for prostate cancer. The tsa less useful but helpful postoperatively in colon cancer or breast cancer survivors. It is sometimes helpful in screening for new cancers. I hope ths is helpful 2 you.
