A member asked:

I'm thinking of taking nac supplement to boost my glutathione levels. is there anything i should think in consideration before doing so? is it safe?

Should be safe: If you are asking about n-acetylcysteine, not a bad choice to indirectly affect CNS glutathione, which is the main free radical scavenger in the brain. Cysteine causes GI distress, and glutathione does not cross the brain-blood barrier, but nac converts to cysteine once in spinal fluid. Relatively safe and well tolerated and in medical food, cerefolin-nac.
