A member asked:

Can verapamil and lisinopril (taken together as prescribed) possibly result in more noticeable varicose veins?

Taking meds together: Yes, you can take verapamil (v) and Lisinopril (l) together. V can cause some swelling of the lower extremities and it does not cause varicose veins (vv) to form. If you have vv have a venous doppler study to see if any of your veins have reflux (r) in them and have them treated. The r will not be caused by the v you are taking. L does not promote edema of the leg nor does it promote vv.

Not Likely: Neither medication list varicose veins as side effect . Additionally , both medications primarily affect the arterial side of circulation.

Meds and V V's: These medications will cause varicose veins but they may contribute to fluid retention and leg swelling.
