Cracking in neck: What you have is called crepitus. You should have your doctor check an x-ray of the neck. This would rule out early arthritis some Motrin might help ant inflammation which could cause the sounds. Good luck and feel better.

Neck Sound: When stressed over long period the neck can respond by producing extra bone called osteophytes. These along with inflammatory response in muscle, synovium, fascia and capsules can produce crackling sound in neck and other joints.
