What happens if my baby doesn't want to wean?

Mom's choice!: Babies will usually wean themselves at some point. Sometimes, though, baby is not ready when mom is. If mom is ready - because she wants to work on the next pregnancy, she is going back to work, she is ill, or whatever reason - baby can be weaned by gradual removal of feedings, or by stopping cold turkey, mom's preference. Each method has its challenges, and its benefits.

Look into reason: Breast feeding is more than nutrition. Some babies will look forward to "nurture time" more than others & it may what they don't want to lose. If baby is up chaseing you down to feed, lingering after 15m/side & hard to put down after feeds, they may be nurture needy. Dad can help you drop some feeds (bottling) while trying to maintain nurture time. You can offer nurture time apart from feeds.
