Bruised tendons: It would be almost impossible to break healthy bones by knocking your ankles together. You probably bruised the tendons that travel aroun the back of the ankle bone. The best thing is ice and rest. After things calm down in a few days then start gentle stretching.

An X-ray : Would help determine if there is a break. No sense in guessing, especially if you are having an issue walking. In the event you did break something you could be making the issue worse by walking.
