Substitution?: Sometimes we can substitute or hide one thing from our awareness w/ another. I've known people who did this w/ cutting or other behaviors. It's possible to hide awareness of depression from ourselves w/ things like cutting. If you find that you are not really happy or content in your life, but either emotionally numb, apathetic, or can't really identify how you feel, a good therapist may help.
