Not infection: There are many reasons for a cough. Antibiotics will work for pneumonia and bacterial bronchiitis, however, antibiotics will not treat cough from asthma, allergies, stomach acid reflux, pertussis that is beyond the early stages, heart failure, foreign body in the lungs or any of the other multiple causes of cough that is not from infection.
