See below: Not all coughs are caused by bacterial infections. Viral infections are more common and will not improve by taking an antibiotic. They will run their natural course and slowly resolve even if you do not take an antibiotic. If the cough just won't go away see doctor again to evaluate for one of many other causes of cough.
