Hydrocephalus: Etv is short for endoscopic third ventriculostomy. It is generally done for obstructive hydrocephalus, commonly for aqueductal stenosis. The procedure is done through a frontal burr hole, an endoscope passed through the lateral ventricle, the foramen of monro, and the third ventricle. A thin membrane is opened and CSF can circulate directly from the ventricle into the prepontine cistern.
