Insipidus or mellitu: Diabetes insipidus is usually diagnosed with urine testing total volume, osmolality, specific gravity etc. You have to find the underlying cause as well any kind of head injury etc for a definitive diagnosis you need to see your doctor.

Endo referral: diabetes insipidus is a very rare disorder. the best way to test conclusively for diabetes insipidus, is by doing water deprivation test. In this test, patient will stay without any fluid intake for 10-12 hours, and urine and blood tests to diagnose diabetes insipidus. This is should be done under medical supervision. Ask for referral to endocrinologist, for further evaluation
