Wrist sprain: Apply ice and take ibuprofen. Also you can get a wrist support from the drug store. If the pain is severe or wrist is very swollen you should get an xray to make sure it is not fractured.

Rest, ice, elevation: I would start with all the usual things: rest, ice, elevation, Ibuprofen or aleve (naproxen). You can also use a wrist splint for a few days to a week. However, if the pain persists or if there is any concern that there may be a fracture then best to have it xray'd.
