A member asked:

Why is it when a guy shows too much interest in me i get the need to self harm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Self harm: Self harm behavior is a way to cope with feelings that are uncomfortable. Physical pain provides a focus away from emotional pain. Unfortunately, this coping does not help you change whatever was uncomfortable and leaves you becoming a slave to self harm for coping. It makes you a victim and leaves you relieved but knowing you are powerless. Seek therapy. You deserve more in life!
