Lifetime depression: Most depression is 'intermittent' throughout the lifespan. People have 'episodes' either singly or recurrent. If you have been feeling depressed for a long while, it may just be untreated. I would get to a psychiatrist or psychologist to discuss your history and possible treatment going forward. You don't have to suffer indefinitely. Treatment is available and really helps.

Depression: Most often people who have the courage to enter psychotherapy and use medication if necessary do not live a lifetime of depression. I don't have clients who make the long term effort who continue to suffer from depression, everyone has bad days but they learn how to talk to overcome the negativity they have endured most of life. Best.
