How to determine when you need professional help when dealing with depression?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See a doctor: You should see a doctor to get properly diagnosed. Some medical problems (i.e. Thyroid disease)can mimic depression and should be ruled out. If you know you have depression and your symptoms are worsening and/or adversely affecting your ability to function, you should seek help. Sometimes we try to self-medicate with natural methods. If those methods are not helping, go see your doctor.
