I have ulcerative colitis and starting to get a sore throat and cough. could a cold or flu cause a bad ulcerative colitis flare up?

Possibly: A 'cold' is caused by a viral infection. As your body mobilizes an immune response to that infection, it might decrease the response it is giving the ulcerative colitis. The response to uc is also an immune response to some degree. The medications you are on to treat the uc may also affect your response to a cold and vice versa.
