What are symptoms of ovulation?

Midcycle pain: The symptoms of ovulation may include a typically slight pain in either the right or left lower quadrant of the abdomen, lasting maybe a day or so. The medical term for this is mittelschmerz. Other signs are increased amount of clear vaginal discharge, sometimes described by the patient as similar to raw egg white. This occurs about two weeks before the onset of menstrual bleeding.

Varies: A mature egg containing follicle should be about 2 cm in size at the time of ovulation. Some people feel pain when the ovary is enlarged by the follicle, when the follicle ruptures, or afterward. This is called mittleschmirtz. There should also be egg white mucus coming from the cervix. Some people experience these symptoms but many do not. A urine ovulation predictor kit is most helpful.

All or just some: Change in cervical fluid, change in cervical firmness and position, increased basal temperature - most commonly used, also: breast tenderness, some cramping or pain on one side of the pelvis, breast tenderness, abdominal bloating increased sex drive, heightened sense of smell, taste.
