Occasionally the area around the mole i've had my whole life gets swollen and tender. it's not usually the mole itself but that has happened. why?

Derm eval.: Dear llama, i can not answer your question. I recommend that all of my patients see the dermatologist annually for a full body evaluation. This might be a good time to schedule that & to have the dermatologist evaluate the mole as well. Take care.
