Depends on the lab: It usually takes 24-48 hours but some labs may be slower. Interpretation is tricky - it must be looked at in context with other risk factors. Hdl is good-the higher the better. Ldl is bad: the lower the better. Normal LDL is <130 but <100 is better and < 70 is desirable for people with heart disease. Hdl >45 is normal but >55 is desirable and >60 is excellent.

Hours: Once the blood is in the lab, the lab has the results in an hour or two. The delay is in the reporting, sending it to your doc's office, getting it in front of your doc to review, getting his comments to his assistant or nurse, then the possible delay in contacting you. No harm in calling to ask about the results. Sometimes things do fall through the cracks.
