Cannabis & Sadness: Dear lion, cannabis can actually increase sadness, paranoia & anxiety in many people. I understand & respect that you don't want to take psychiatric medications. Are you willing to consider counseling ? Cognitive behavioral therapy can be very helpful for depression. I would not personally recommend cannabis to my patients for treatment of depression. Take care.

Help for sadness: Smoking marijuana will not really help you deal w sadness, it will just make you not care about it for a little while. In addition, regular use decreases serotonin levels, leading to increased depression & anxiety. What goes up must come down, & vice versa. "natural" does not = healthy. Poison ivy or oak are natural too. Pot -> much worse lung damage than tobacco. See a therapist about sadness.
