I have a pressure sore on the back of my head and one on my bottom and tailbone. the tailbone has 3rd degree sores and is tunneling. should i worry?

I would: Be very much worried. Pressure sores is not a good thing to have and usually indicates the seriousness of a disease. Normally, pressure sores are seen in patients with advanced disease and poor prognosis for survival.

Yes: It is concerning that you would have these type of wounds. If this is being treated then usually it can heal well with time- but it does take time. I would just want you to make sure you are seeing someone and that there is a management plan in place for addressing the wounds. Deep wounds some time require treatments with hyperbaric chambers, wound vacs or skin grafts. Good luck.

Yes: Pressure sore is open gate for infection. Your pressure sores must be treated; pressure sore prevention must be implemented. You need to seek referral to local wound care center, or at least be attended by wound care rn on regular basis. Your pmd is good start point; he may initiate care and proper referrals.

Yes: Decubitus ulcer need immediate attention. Measures including reducing pressure on the affected areas, good nutritional intake including normalizing Albumin and protective dressing over the ulcers. Need a wound doctor or a geriatrician
