ALLERGIES: 5 year old with isolated leg itching may be from local allergens. Summertime, allergy, itching, rashes are more seen in exposed areas e.G legs, forearms. Playing in grasses, insect bites are commin causes. Look for insect bite, if any, wash with soap and water, apply moisturizing lotion; if too itchy, use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or 1% Hydrocortisone cream. Overall keep skin hydrated by using mild moisturizers.
