PostOp Knee Pain: Severe pain is commonly encountered in 1st 24 hrs after most surgeries. Elevation & cryotherapy (ice) can help alleviate some of the pain & swelling. Tense hemarthrosis (bleeding into the joint) is another possible explanation. Septic arthritis (infection) and compartment syndrome are also but rare. More analgesic would be needed if not opiate naive. Call to inform ortho surgeon now.
