I had lateral release july 25. my knee is still swollen and getting hard on the outside. is there a reason for it to become hard?

Scar tissue: Could very likely be scar tissue. Physical therapy is essential with a lateral release it helps with proper tracking of the patella and prevention of scarring. I would begin by working on aggressive deep tissue massage to break up the scar tissue. If it is sore swollen red the other concern would be an infection see your doc.
