Suicidality tx: I am assuming that you were referring to major depressive disorder with borderline personality disorder. Most of the time when i see these two combined in my practice there is an underlying anxiety disorder such as posttraumatic stress disorder. It is important that you be in therapy and have that addressed. Failure to do that can lead to ongoing difficulty such as you're having now. For people who have chronic thoughts of suicidality and any diagnosis in my practice i often prescribed Hydroxyzine 10 to 25 mg up to four times daily as tolerated. You can discuss that possibility with your psychiatrist. Other options include the use of lithium for its anti-suicidal properties as well as clozaril (clozapine).

Several: There are several modalities including transcranial magnetic stimulation, vagal nerve stimulation, ketamine infusions, & electroconvulsive therapy --- all fda approved. Deep brain stimulation is being studied so you may be able to get in on a trial for that. There are now some genetic tests that can guide treatment choices as well. Your area should have several docs that do this kind of work.

MDD & BPD can be: Impairing. Treatment can be very frustrating as it may take numerous medication attempts to find a response & then the response to any one med may not be adequate. It often takes combinations of meds, non-med therapies, & lifestyle strategies (nutrition, sleep, exercise, relationships & community resources). Work with psychiatrist & therapist & don't give up. You deserve to have a life.
