A member asked:

I really want to nurse my baby. is it safe to nurse her immediately after birth and through-out while i'm on the medication from having a c-section?

Absolutely: The sooner the better after your surgery. Talk to the nursery staff before the operation and let them know you want to nurse the baby when you are in the recovery room if you are stable. They can bring the baby in there and hold to your breast and let the baby root and lick the nipple and even take a few sucks. It's great. The meds are not a problem at all unless you have a serious problem.
