A member asked:

What is an apgar score? are they grading babies from birth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

APGAR: Virginia apgar was an early researcher in neonatal work & a scoring system was developed using letters in her name to help classify the activity of newborns (&if & how fast drs ought to be helping.) a=appearance; p=pulse rate;g=grimmice, a= activity, r= respiratory effort. It is commonly recorded in a newborn record & filed away. It has little value after the first few minutes.Low scores=bad start.
