How long can swelling near a hematoma last from olecranin bursitis? been over 30 days, no change. ortho wants an emg done but i have no insurance.

EMG: An EMG assesses nerve problems. A hematoma and bursitis are not nerve problems. Therefore, an EMG would probably be of little benefit. If the swelling that you speak of is actually the olecranon bursitis, that type of swelling can last indefinitely. Speak to your physician about this to get further guidance about the treatment of the bursitis. You might also consider seeing a pm&r doc as well.
