I use lidoderm 5% patches for back pain. can i apply heat to my back where the patch is?

Back pain: I would be very very careful with the heat as Lidoderm causes numbness which can mask the temperature and lead to burns.

Lidoderm: According to the manufacturer, placement of external heat sources, such as heating pads or electric blankets, over Lidoderm patches is not recommended as this has not been evaluated and may increase plasma Lidocaine levels.

Lidoderm patch: Definitely not recommended to place heat over the patch, this will change the absorption properties of the skin and medication liberation of the patch. Also not a good idea to apply heat over a numb area due to the chance to burn yourself before appreciating the heat.
