A member asked:

Is there a gentle way to treat peroneal muscular atrophy?

Treat the cause: The peroneus is the muscle on the front of the lower leg, outside the tibia. There are lots of potential causes for peroneal atrophy including mal-positioning of the end of the fibula near the knee. A do, skilled in osteopathic manipulation, should be able to evaluate, diagnose and hopefully treat the cause.

Yes: Depends on what you consider gentle. Generally, physical therapy, bracing, orthotics, and conservative measures (heat/ice, analgesic balms for muscle soreness) are employed.
