Hormones: The hormones released during breast feeding (lactation) will frequently suppress menstrual periods (amenorrhea). The answer to this question is that many breast feeding women may not resume their menstrual periods after pregnancy until they stop breast feeding. Lactational amenorrhea, therefore, is normal.
