Circumcision: Circumcision usually done before d/c form newborn nursery in a healthy newborn, unless medical contra-indication, anatomic abnormality of penis, prematurity, etc, easiest at this age. If not done, usually after 6 months or, many urologist prefer 1 yr or above. The child needs anesthesia. Incidence of UTI has been seen more in uncircumcised kids. Uti associated: Circumcision is associated with significantly reduced risk of UTI . In U.S. Insurance has not been paying for circumcision for last twenty years. In males infections have subsequently increased 5x. Circumcision is easiest performed near birth but can be performed at older ages. Hematuria can be associated with cystitis or bladder infection.
