There is a condition: Called gilbert's disease, which is common and passed down in families. Patients have a elevated unconjugated (indirect) bilirubin which often goes up in times of stress. If serious liver disease has been ruled out this would be the most common finding.

Pinguecula: The most common cause of a yellow tint to the sclera is the formation of a pinguecula. This is an area adjacent to the colored part of the eye that is slightly elevated and yellow in color. It is caused by exposure to the sun. No treatment is needed for it.
