Pharyngitis: Pharyngitis is inflammation of your pharynx or back of your mouth/throat. It can be caused by infections, both viral (most commonly) and bacterial (like strep). If you have visible pus on your tonsils, swollen glands & fever, but no cough, go see your family doc who can decide if you need more testing or just antibiotics.

Hi. I have had a wet cough for 5 days now. My throat started feeling scratchy last night and i woke up and had difficulty swallowing. I have white patches on and around my tonsil area.
Soreness&achiness between upper&lower jaw inside mouth beside tonsil area. Will tmd cause this? Itchy feeling in ear same side. Help. Been to ENT. :(
Skin redness under lips and to side of mouth for 2 months now. Gp gave ointment but redness comes back on days I do not use it. Not itchy or bumpy. Just red (inflamed?) what could it be? Permanent?
