No clear answer: Chondromalacia is simply thinning of the cartilage bearing of a joint...Would assume that yours may be the knee. Anyhow, just b/c you have some worn cartilage doesnt necessarily mean you will always have symptoms. Depending on how back it is i would consider avoiding running, instead: swim/bike/elliptical. When the knee does bother you, can try an otc NSAID for short duration.
