Chiropractor: The back pain can be caused by muscle strain, spinal stenosis, ruptured disc, nerve impingement ... The treatment depends on the cause of the pain. If you need an adjustment or soft tissue treatment, chiropractic therapy is good. If you pain is not improved, you can go to see a pain management doctor.

Physician first: See your family doctor or an orthopod or a physiatrist. Most back pain does well without intervention for several weeks unless you need anti-pain medication. If the problem lasts for more than three weeks then see one of the above specialists for help. A chiropractor offers a deep, thrusting massage, which might temporarily feel better but offers no long term solutions.
