It depends: Of course, it depends on what the etiology of your sore throat is - strep versus mycoplasma versus infectious mono versus viral infection. It also depends on whether you have an elevation of temperature or not. Generally speaking, rest, vitamin c and fluids are advisable to facilitate resolution.
