When somebody has auto immune disease, does it get passed down through children?

Not exactly: Having a parent with an autoimmune disorder increases your chance of having some type of autoimmune disease. Some can be tracked with genetic markers to check likelihood of disease presentation but many cannot. There is often some type of environmental trigger that will start the process but not always easy to pinpoint.
