Can become inactive : Lupus is a poorly understood autoimmune disease which requires long term treatment and monitoring. The best results come when patients work well together. Each person is different. Not unusually, there will be periods of disease activity followed by long periods of inactivity. Many cases stay inactive and are considered "burnt out" as opposed to those that continue to "flare".
