Can you wear make up if you have a stye?

Usually OK: A sty is a blockage of oil glands that open at the edge of the eyelid. Sometimes they become infected, so if the area is red and tender with or without drainage it may be best not to use cosmetics. If it is just a lump in the eyelid, cosmetics should be ok. It is doubtful that cosmetics cause a sty. They usually respond to the use of warm compresses, and sometimes require medication or surgery.

No: Clean the make up off. Heat the eyelid for ten minutes at a time then try to squeeze out the built up oil inside. If you can't get it to drain, see your specialist eye md (ophthalmologist) for possible surgical removal. Make up can clog up the opening of the oil drainage canal and make your problem worse.
