Important: Classic celiac disease is important to identify, because by avoiding gluten you can mitigate most of the effects of the disease. You should gain your weight back and be much healthier. If you do not respond to the gluten free diet, you should be evaluated for other causes of the weight loss. People with celiac disease need a doctor caring for them to monitor for any delayed problems as well.

Quite variable: This can be bad enough to kill you slowly or mild enough to just give you symptoms. Many undiagnosed patients self select away from gluten containing foods when their body associates them with cramps or other symptoms. When your gut is working relatively well it is easy to gain weight. You can certainly eat enough non-gluten foods to weigh in excess of 300 lb.
