Treatment: Anyone can treat a cavity, but will the treatment work is the question. A dentist is trained and uses approved materials, but sometimes even dental treatments performed by a dental professional can fail.

NO: Tooth decay is not treatable unless in it's very initial phase where Fluoride is king to help remineralize the affected enamel. Teeth are so special this way that we have specialists called dentists that treat dental decay. Dentists are trained to "restore" teeth back to there original shape and function.

No: Don't try it. You need to se a licensed dentist to take care of your dental needs. Anything else you might cause more damage to your tooth.

Interesting: Kind of a chicken or the egg, which comes first question. How would you know if you have a cavity without going to the dentist? You may say pain in my tooth. If that is the case, the decay is beyond fixing it yourself and you need a dentist. If you somehow found out you have smaller cavities, only in the enamel, those can be remineralized through diet, Fluoride and xylitol containing products.

No: Even a dentist needs to see a dentist to have his or her cavities fixed. Holes in enamel and dentin will not repair themselves.
