NSAIDs or Steroids: Nsaids such naprosyn (naproxen) or voltarin are a reasonable next step; oral or epidural steroids can also help. Physical therapy can also help. See a pain specialist for next steps.

Nerve Pain: Oxycodone and other mu receptor agonists are poor choices for neurogenic pain. Recommend anti-inflammatory agents such as steroid or nsaids, also can use meds such as Gabapentin for neurogenic pain. Also physical therapy can be very helpful.
