A member asked:

Could you please describe functional capacity on a cardiovascular stress test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Functional capacity: It's how long you're able to exercise and the load applied (for example, on a treadmill: 10 minutes reaching a peak speed of 4.2 mph at a grade of 16%.)these parameters result in a number called mets (metabolic equivalents). There are standard tables that predict normal functional capacity in mets based on age and gender.
