Sore Throat: You certainly can take cold medicines, but they are usually used to treat symptoms for which you are really not complaining. The common cold medicines are used to treat nasal stuffiness and congestion and runny nose. If you are not having those symptoms, it doesn't make sense to take a drug for a symptom you are not suffering. For sore throat, increase fluids, gargle and take tylenol (acetaminophen). See dr.
