Lip cold sores: Are caused from the herpes virus. Mouth lesions can also be from that virus but they can also be apthous stomatitis ulcers that are not viral in their etiology. Your immune system is suspected in both. Let your dentist look and tell you what they are. Treatment is different for both. Good luck!

Not usual: Herpes infection is typically on the lip area. More likely, any ulcers in the mouth are apthous ulcers which are not related to the herpes virus.
