See a DC or DO: See an osteopathic physician who specializes in osteopathic manipulation, or a good chiropractor. Manipulation can really help relieve the pain and can help keep you from having more episodes. Appropriate stretches and yoga can also be of benefit, as well as icing the area. Massage/acupressure could be of benefit but would be best in conjunction with manipulation. Mri may be advisable.

Xrays/Lumbar MRI: Sciatica that lasts longer than 6 weeks or is associated with progressive symptoms needs workup. Lumbar xrays will assess for abnormal movement in your bones. Lumbar MRI will assess for disc bulges impacting the nerve and assess the spinal canal diameter. If your symptoms don't respond to activity limitations, physical therapy or lumbar steroid injections, then surgical options needed.
