A member asked:

Can hyperventilation cause heartpalpitations/heartskips/pvc's/pac's? and are all these the same?

Yes it can: But while they are all related, they are all different. It depends upon where in the heart muscle the abnormal beat originates. Discuss w/your doctor, as there are many other, more potentially serious, causes of abnormal heart beats that may need to be considered and evaluated.

Yes: Hyperventilation and cause heart palpitations. Palpitations are where you feel your heart as if it's going too fast or perhaps in an abnormal rhythm. There is no correlation between hyperventilation and premature ventricular contractions or pvcs. There is no correlation between hyperventilation and pacs or premature atrial contractions. Hyperventilation and skipped beats are not correlated unless the heart has an underlying focus of irritability. Ekg abnormalities that can occur are inverted t waves, elevated or suppressed st interval, and tachycardia.
