Degenerative disc: Based on your information I am not sure what surgery is needed. No surgery will restore your disc height that was lost due to natural wear and tear. If you have slipped disc causing nerve impingement and the symptoms thereof, perhaps surgery will be indicated but this information was not provided, so i would stop here.
