Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Virus?: Hemoptysis is coughing up blood, a fairly common occurrence, all things considered. It just represents a broken blood vessel from coughing so much. Of course, if she's coughing a large volume of blood, we're more concerned, especially if shortness of breath or fever, sweats, chills, etc. Multiple reasons for coincident headache including meningitis. So take her to see her doctor.
